Prizm grew up in a single-parent household with his mother and younger brother. Growing up Prizm was one of the have-nots, a latch-key kid which made him very sensitive to his environment living in section 8 housing.  His mom had to work double shifts and go through so much for survival.  It was at this time the sentiments of his thoughts found a home in Hip Hop, where those same life predicaments were being expressed in music.  Prizm quickly took a liking to this new art form and found a home for himself in it.  He also found peace through that expression, which helped Prizm further develop his flow.  Some of those influences were Nas, The Notorious B.I.G, JAY Z, and so many others.

As 1/5th of the rap group 925ve, Prizm has performed with such luminaries as Toki Wright, , P.O.S, Rich Garvey, The Rotation, Finding Novyon and Chance York. Prizm was always known stylistically, delivering sharp viewpoints. These viewpoints leave you raw to the openness and honesty of what Prizm is thinking.  The questions that you may be afraid to expound on, Prizm is able to speak about and express openly.  Prizm stood out as being raw, poetic, and engaging, with equal parts improvisation and artistry.

Songs like “The Root Of,” “Pillz,” “Coffee Break,” and “Lemonheadz” showcase the wide variety of content from Prizm. You don’t know what you are going to get. Each song has its own uniqueness to it and each flow is patterned behind that beat.  Prizm’s witty and well-crafted lyrics describe the life of a thinking man; with all the stresses of a modern world, pressure to make something of himself, to keep what he has, pressure to not lose what he has, to not fall backwards, but push forward with the idea that today is better than yesterday, and tomorrow has a promise better than current. These are what people are saying when they listen to Prizm:
